We’re 10 Years Old

January 2, 2020 by TheVillageLady Leave a Comment

Ten years ago, Carried To Full Term was birthed from an idea to help pregnant and homeless women. The mission literally began after observing the need to help students who may also be pregnant and in need of support.

Although most people became aware of our mission in 2016, we’ve been around since 2010. The journey has been incredible. The support has been amazing and the women who have walked the halls in the home have been magnificent.

Never in our wildest dream could we have imagined the number of babies and children who would be born into our program and would come to call Carried To Full Term home. Thank you for the support and we look forward to growing together.

Creating Hope for a Brighter Future

November 18, 2019 by TheVillageLady Leave a Comment

The other day, one of the babies born in our home saw a photo of the house and she said, that’s my mommy’s house.

The significance of the statement is profound for the following reasons.

Two years ago her mother was pregnant and homeless.

Two years ago, she didn’t have a home to be born into.

Two years ago, she was born into a community of dedicated women committed to loving her, reading to her, taking her to doctor’s appointments and affirming her mom.

In the past two years, her mother was given the tools and support needed to give birth to a healthy baby girl to help her break cycles of homelessness and crisis.

When women are given the support they need, they make decisions that affirm their heritage, existence and they break negative cycles and work to leave a new hope-filled legacy for future generations.

You can invest in changing futures by either serving as a volunteer or by making a financial donation.

You Are Worthy

September 4, 2019 by TheVillageLady Leave a Comment

There’s no denying that this little guy is deeply loved by his mom even as she wrestles with feeling abandoned and unloved.

She asked, “why have I been abandoned by all those who have claimed to love me?” She says, “I’m not a bad person. I haven’t hurt anyone, and if I did, I’ve always asked for forgiveness. How is that I continue to get hurt so much? How can I live in harmony with those I love?”

We get hard questions all the time. We told this momma that she’s deserving of love. She can’t make someone else love her but it doesn’t mean she’s not worthy of love or shouldn’t be loved. We shared that it is ok to shift the focus from needing someone to love her to learn to love herself.

It is going to take some time for her to believe that, but we will continue to build her up each day.

She does love her little guy and he returns it double fold. Pray for this mom and all our mothers and their babies.

Judgment Free

August 21, 2019 by TheVillageLady Leave a Comment

There’s never a day that goes by without learning something new from the mothers in our program. Many of the women come from various backgrounds and cultures. One of our mothers is a recent college graduate with a degree in computer science. She works as a nursing assistant. She decided to become a nursing assistant after she was told that she should be ashamed of being pregnant and unmarried and no one would hire her.

From that point on, she started hiding the pregnancy to minimize further judgments, shame, and criticisms. She believed the words that were spoken to her and accepted that she should be ashamed. Sometimes, traditions and opinions in cultures different from ours can be bothersome and difficult to change. Our program is a judgment-free space. Our staff and volunteers have loved this mom simply because we’ve had the opportunity to have her in our lives.

We’ve encouraged her to eat well, and to own her pregnancy. We continue to share that her baby is a gift. This may not be where she or her friends envisioned her life, but it is where she is and we’re happy to have her in our lives. She has attended parenting classes and other classes offered at the house to prepare for the arrival of her baby. Her face lights up when she feels movement. We’ve encouraged her to test the job market by submitting her computer science resume, she’s afraid of being judged and rejected. We continue to build up her confidence muscle.

Today, we were pleasantly surprised to see her venturing out into the community fully embracing her growing belly. We are so thankful to our volunteers and staff who love all the families unconditionally and without judgment.

We invite you to join us in loving our moms to accept where they are, as they work to change their futures. If you’d like to become a financial contributor. you can do so by becoming a monthly partner today. Another way to help is by sharing this story with someone who can help her secure a computer science/IT position. She’s an ambitious young woman, with a cheerful spirit. She’s currently working two jobs, has her car, loves people and is wide open to learning new things.

We are beyond thankful for each opportunity to love the women and their babies who come to us for help. If you are a business owner willing to extend an opportunity to this young woman, you will not regret your decision to extend a life-changing opportunity.
